Ultraviolet disinfection is one of the technologies that has been used more and more frequently to improve the quality of drinking and pool water treatment. To select the appropriate type of UV device, it is necessary to determine and guarantee the necessary dose of UV radiation, depending on the flow and quality of water in terms of its permeability, ie concentration and type of dissolved and undissolved substances that affect reflection or absorption of UV radiation.

The possibility of combining UV radiation with other treatment technologies leads to high water quality. The advantage is the reduction of operating demands, respectively. saving of chemical dosing and safe and easy operation in automatic mode. The disadvantage is the possibility of secondary contamination, so UV radiation alone is not suitable for hygienic security. In practice, it is therefore combined with, for example, chlorination
