The UV-C FLEX INOX sterilizer is primarily intended for private swimming pools, where chlorine or salt electrolysis is not used for water disinfection.
Disinfection with ultraviolet radiation is among the technologies that are still being used recently to improve the quality of drinking and pool water treatment technologies. The principle of disinfection consists in photochemical damage to RNA and DNA, proteins, enzymes or other biologically significant macromolecules.
The effectiveness of UV radiation depends on the direction of UV radiation, the type of lamp and their arrangement in relation to the drinking flow, or pool water. For the correct selection of the type of UV device, it is necessary to determine and guarantee the necessary dose of UV radiation, depending on the flow rate and water quality in terms of its permeability, i.e. the concentration and type of dissolved and undissolved substances that affect the reflection or absorption of UV radiation.
Low-pressure monochromatic UV lamps emit UV radiation with a wavelength of 254 nm, the intensity of the emitted UV energy level is only one and it is strongly dependent on the temperature of the treated water and the flow rate. the fact is that this type of low-pressure UV lamp only has germicidal effects.
The possibility of combining UV radiation with other treatment technologies leads to the achievement of high water quality. The advantage is the reduction of operating requirements, or savings in chemical dosing and safe and easy operation in automatic mode. The disadvantage is the possibility of secondary contamination, so UV radiation itself is not suitable for hygienic protection. In practice, it is therefore combined, for example, with chlorination.
